Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television journalist, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. Mitchell joined CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She was hired by NBC News Washington two years later as an general reporter. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell was on a panel for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. She covered a wide range of interesting stories such as arms control the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal and went on numerous trips along with President Reagan to meetings alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
